We have one quarter of our school year in the books – and what a quarter it was!!! We had an amazing first PTC Kid’s Night Out as well as a highly successful student council dance. We just finished up with our spirit week following 2 weeks in which our students worked hard on state MEAP testing. And, of course, our staff is greatly appreciative of the time you have taken to come and visit with us at parent-teacher conferences. Time continues to fly by as we now settle in for the winter months leading up to and following our upcoming holiday season.
This month, I would like to highlight the many opportunities that we have for our students that are struggling as well as our students that are exceeding expectations. We have made a concerted effort this year to expand these opportunities through such programs as our BSI (Before School Intervention) in math and ELA, ELA Springboard courses at 6th and 7th grades, and ELA 9 for our advanced 8th grade students at East and West High Schools. As in the past, we also offer advanced math courses as well as math and reading intervention courses within the school day. As we continue to grow and evolve with upcoming district transitions, we are looking at even more ways to challenge all of our learners – stretching those that are moving more quickly while supporting those who are struggling. If you have any questions about avenues for support or enrichment for your student, I encourage you to contact our counseling office or speak directly with your child’s teacher.
As always, we greatly appreciate being a partner in the education of your children. We work best when we work together. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we wish you and yours a safe and joyful holiday season. Our next newsletter will be issued in early January.
