Greetings Zemmer Families!
From the Principal’s Desk – April 2014
The Tigers have taken the field and the last few piles of snow are nearly gone. It’s been a brutal winter that will go down in the history books. As you’ve already likely heard, we have made official changes to our calendar that will impact our Easter holiday weekend as well as the final day of school. Zemmer will now be in session through June 18th and will hold classes on April 21st, previously scheduled as a vacation day. Let’s hope our snow days are done at this point and that we will have a less intense winter in 2014-15!
Lots of things are happening here at Zemmer and throughout the Lapeer Community Schools right now. We have just begun our final marking period here and are in the “home stretch” of the school year. Some of our kids (and probably some of our adults too) have a good case of “cabin fever” going and are looking forward to getting back outside. This is a time of year when distractions can become an issue. I encourage you to keep talking to your kids about their schoolwork whenever you get the opportunity. We all need reminders to stay on task and keep our eyes on our goals, especially when the weather breaks and gives us a chance to get outside again!
Finally – I want to offer up a point of pride in congratulating Zemmer students Nathan Jasper and Maria Reitz for taking first and second place in the Lapeer County Spelling Bee! It’s always awesome to have the winner come from your school, but even more amazing to have both the winner and the runner up emerge from Zemmer! Good luck to Nathan as he gets the chance to represent our county at the next level.
