Lapeer Community Schools is excited to announce that Jamie Gallagher has been named the district's new Assistant Transportation Director.

Gallagher, currently a bus driver for LCS, will work with Transportation Director Linda Thompson in her new role.

"I am truly grateful to be offered this position and beyond thrilled to accept," Gallagher said. "Lapeer Community Schools is my home and I love my coworkers and the students we safely drive to and from school each day. As Assistant Transportation Director, I am excited to take on a new part of the job and to work even more with Linda. I can't wait to get started."

A bus driver and district trainer since October 2009, Gallagher is a natural leader who also serves as the union president. She has been a mentor in training new drivers, supporting other members of the department and resolving workplace issues through clear communication and practical problem solving.

"We are pleased to promote Jamie into this position," said Thompson. "She has always been someone that welcomes change and new challenges, and I am excited to continue to work alongside her. Jamie has an infectious positive attitude and has been a valued and dedicated member of our department for many years. This new role fits her perfectly."

Gallagher will transition into her new role over the next several weeks.
